How I started listening to Kpop
I started to know KPOP from browsing the television I landed on Arirang Channel and the song Loner by Outsider was playing. I don't understand the language but I'm intrigued because of the guy who's rapping so fast that I had to search about it. We have a similar rapper in our country who is also fast rapping his stage name is Gloc-9.
Then I saw BOA next she's really good the song that I listened to that time was No. 1 and Eat you up she dances so well and her songs are beautiful. I would say the first group that I 'stan' back then was Super Junior and my bias is Kim HeeChul. He's both pretty and handsome that's why I liked him.
I remember at that time I used to have a bunch of A4-size notebooks where I handwrote all of the KPOP songs that are releasing. I really got addicted to it and since Sandara Park is famous in the Philippines I got to know 2NE1 and BIGBANG it was around 2009 that I was hooked on Korean Pop.
I'm a high school student back then and I don't have money to purchase albums or lightsticks but I got to attend a KPOP concert for the first time, thanks to my Mom who got us a free ticket. They also had a fan meeting in a mall and I went to it. Below is my low-quality picture of the event that I took. There are a few Koreans in the mall at that time.
There are a lot of great groups back then that I like because of their songs and also appearances.
Here is my list of Old K-pop groups that I like. Most of them are already disbanded.
Girl Groups: 2NE1, SNSD, 4Minute, Girl's Day, f(x), Sistar, Secret, C-Real, Miss A, Evol, Chocolat, Rainbow, Crayon Pop, Sunny Hill, Brown Eyed Girls, Spica, T-ara, Orange Caramel, Apink, AOA, Kara
Boy Groups: Super Junior, BIGBANG, TVXQ, Shinee, B.A.P, Beast, Boyfriend, F.Cuz, ZE:A, Infinite, 2PM, MBLAQ, Teen Top, U-Kiss, Block B, Uniq, SS501, B1A4, NU'EST
Band: FT Island, CN-Blue
If you want to listen to some of their songs, below is the link to a Spotify playlist I created that consists of my favorite songs from the year 2009 to 2014 K-pop.
Up until now I still listen to K-pop and a lot of new groups have debuted. The genre of music that I usually listen to are Hip-Hop, Pop, RnB, and Rock. I'll be biased and say that I like all groups that YGE has. The current group that I stan are BLACKPINK, and Treasure not that I don't like the others but they were the main groups that I like.
Since I'm already working I have money to buy albums, official merch and attend concerts of my favorite groups. Also, I bought my first ever lightstick "Teulight" last year when Treasure had their first concert in my country. I love them so I have to go but I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't get the seat I wanted.
Then April 14-15, 2023 they had a 2-day concert here in Manila and I went on Day 2 I got a good seat. They were amazing I'm proud of them their live vocals and raps are amazing it's like when I went to the concert of iKON it was a party. That was the best K-pop concert that I attended so far. The only thing that I regret now is I've never had a chance to go to a BLACKPINK concert. 😞
I'm a YG Artist stan periodt...
